Head of School's Message

Dear Parents and Carers,

As we continue to enjoy the great outdoors with the children, we want to emphasise the importance of applying suncream before arriving at school. Additionally, we kindly request that each child has their own sun hat with their name clearly labelled, as this will help ensure their comfort and protection throughout the day. While we do have additional hats available at the nursery, we understand that children often prefer to wear their own.

Please note that even on mornings that appear cloudy, it is essential for sun hats to be worn and suncream to be applied. The weather can change rapidly, and our little ones spend time outside, so it's important to ensure they are protected.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding. Your efforts in providing sun protection are greatly appreciated and help us keep our children safe and happy during their outdoor activities.

Nursery Room
Book & Rhyme of the week

Nursery Room will continue with their book called 'Jack and the Beanstalk' written by Mara Alperin.

They  will begin the innovation stage where they will explore changing a character or the setting within the story such as the beanstalk or the cow to create a new story.

The rhyme will focus on reinforcing  last week's maths. They will use the rhyme - '5 Little Frogs' to identify when two groups of frogs are the same, who has 'lots of' and 'more' frogs.

The children’s keys words this week will help them with  their busy fingers next week - 'grasp', 'fingers', 'thumb'.

We will be tearing and rolling up paper, grasping scissors, tongs and tea strainers.

Willow Room will continue to read 'Jasper's Beanstalk' written by Nick Butterworth.

They will begin the imitation stage where they will explore retelling a shortened version of this story through role play.

The rhyme will focus on maths - numbers. The children will sing '5 Little Ducks' to reinforce their learning from last week by knowing that a group of things changes when something is added or taken away.

The children’s keys words will help with their understanding of maths - 'add', 'take away'  and 'more.'

Conker Room
Book & Rhyme of the week

Conker Room will start a new book called 'Jasper's Beanstalk' written by Nick Butterworth.

They will continue to immerse themselves in understanding the key words and themes of the story.

The rhyme will focus on maths - numbers. The children will sing 2 or 3 little Ducks; supporting them to recite number names in sequence and notice numerals.

The children’s keys words will help with their understanding of their maths rhyme -  '1', '2' and 'number.'

Success Story of the Week!

Dear Parents,

We are thrilled to share some wonderful news with you!

Oxhey Nursery School welcomed a visit from our new School Improvement Partner from Herts for Learning on Monday. We are delighted to report that she was extremely pleased with our provisions, particularly highlighting the outdoor areas and the wonderful opportunities they provide for our children.

The newly established Conker room, received special praise for its organisation and suitability for our youngest learners. It's always heartwarming to see our hard work being recognised, and we are committed to continuing our efforts to offer the best environment for your children.

Furthermore, we have agreed on additional actions to support children as they transition into Reception this year.

We are excited to embark on the next stage of our children's development and look forward to the growth and achievements that lie ahead.
