Head of School's Message

Dear Parents and Carers,

We all know how busy life can be, especially as we juggle work, school runs, children, and full schedules. In the fast pace of daily life, timings can sometimes get away from us. However, we would like to kindly remind you about our start and collection times, and how these impact the children and the nursery.

Start of the Day
The school gates open at 9:00am, which is when we expect children to arrive. We do understand that there may be occasions when you are unavoidably delayed, so the gates remain open a little longer to support those rare situations.

Please note, this is not  to encourage regular arrival at 9:10am. The school day starts at 9:00am, not 9:10am, and punctuality helps your child settle, learn, and take part fully in the day’s activities.

Children’s Wellbeing and Collections When Unwell
Your child’s wellbeing is of utmost importance to us. If we call you to collect your child because they are unwell, it is because we consider it to be very important. In these instances, we kindly ask that you, your partner, or a family member make every effort to collect your child as soon as possible.

When children are ill, they need 1:1 care and comfort, which is very difficult to provide in a busy nursery environment while also caring for the rest of the children.

Late Collections
Late collections are charged by Oxhey Nursery. If you are late collecting your child, a fee will be applied for every 10 minutes after your agreed collection time. Please ensure you arrive promptly to collect your child to avoid additional charges and to support the smooth running of the nursery.

Early Collections
Early collections are strongly discouraged at Oxhey. They place additional strain on the room and staff and, as mentioned in previous letters, also prevent children from completing their day as a group. This includes their final learning and group time, which is an important part of their routine and development.

Thank you, as always, for your understanding and support. If you would like to discuss anything outlined in this week’s newsletter, please contact the office, who will be happy to arrange an appointment with me.

Success Story of the Week!

Dear Parents,

Thank you to  Anum’s dad, for coming into Nursery School this week to share his profession and knowledge with the children.

He is a dentist, and he talked to the children about healthy foods that help to keep their teeth strong and protected.

The children explored a model skull to look closely at the teeth, saw how an electric toothbrush works, and learned how long two minutes of toothbrushing really is by using a timer.

Anum’s dad also kindly donated toothpaste for the children to take home.

Thank you once again for such an informative and exciting session. We are very grateful for the time you dedicated to the school and for sharing the important work you do in our community.
