Head of School's Message

Dear Parents and Carers,

What a wonderful week we have had in nursery!

The weather has been fresh and we have really enjoyed exploring the garden and outdoor areas – as we do in all weathers here at Oxhey. As a result, there are times when children may get a little wet or damp while exploring our wonderful outdoor space.

We really appreciate you keeping your child’s tote bag topped up with spare clothes. However, there are occasions when children’s bags are empty and we provide nursery spares to ensure they stay warm, dry and comfortable throughout the day.

Unfortunately, our supply of spare clothes has now run out – we currently have no trousers, leggings or tracksuit bottoms available to lend.

Please could we ask you to:

  • Check at home to see if you have any nursery spare clothes that may have been mixed in with your child’s clothing, and return them if so.

  • Consider donating any trousers, leggings or tracksuit bottoms your child no longer needs, so that we can rebuild our spare clothes stock.

Thank you, as always, for your support and assistance.

Nursery Room
Book & Rhyme of the week

Nursery room will continue their book called 'Handa's Surprise' written by Eileen Brown.

They will begin the second week of the immersion stage where they will explore the fruits included within the book, exploring their textures and tastes.

They will weave paper to explore how baskets are made and explore the differences between villages and towns.

Their key words will help them with their understanding of their book: basket, market, ripe, village and fruit.

The rhyme will focus on their phonic knowledge of alliteration. They will sing the rhyme 'There's a worm at the bottom of the garden.' Wiggly Woo | Sing A Long | Nursery Rhyme | Worm at the bottom of the garden Through this rhyme they will explore the pure phonic sound 'w' and words that begin with the initial sound.  https://youtu.be/o7VInw7y0gw?si=HJ6TgF-zb2iSiNLX

Their key words will help with their understanding of their book; happy, dance, puddles and zoom.

Success Story of the Week!

Dear Parents,

We are so proud of all our children here at Oxhey - this week children have begun confidently self serving at lunchtimes, and we are thrilled with their progress.

They are now:

  • Pouring their own water from small jugs

  • Serving vegetables from shared platters using spoons and tongs

  • Sharing snack platters during our two snack times each school day

Children were already collecting their own plates and cups, and we are now encouraging them to become even more self reliant and independent during these routines.

We hope these important life skills will continue to grow as they move through our school.
