Head of School's Message

Dear Parents and Carers, â€‹

We are delighted to announce that next week our children will be visiting Oxhey Park, a local park that is well worth exploring. We have already communicated the timings via email for Conker and Willow Rooms, Nursery School timings will follow, and I am sure you are as excited for your child's outing as we are. Please be mindful of the weather on the day of your child's outing and dress them appropriately. We intend to travel to the park for a short period and hope the weather will be kind to us during that time.

The travel times are as follows:

  • Monday 10th and Wednesday 12th November for Conkers and Willow children

  • Wednesday 19th November for Nursery children

In addition to this, as the weather changes, it may be tempting to send your child to school in wellies to ensure their feet stay dry throughout the day. However, please allow me a moment to explain the challenges children face when wearing wellies all day. It is difficult for their ankles to move freely, and therefore opportunities for challenge and risk are reduced as the children cannot operate as they usually would when exploring the outside environment. The children do sit for short periods every day in group work. During this time, they are expected to sit cross-legged, which becomes extremely uncomfortable in wellies. Therefore, we kindly ask that you provide a spare pair of shoes for Nursery, should you wish for your child to walk to school and return home again in wellies.

Thank you for your understanding.

Nursery Room
Book & Rhyme of the week

Nursery room will continue their book called 'Hairy McClary' written by Lynley Dodd.

They will begin the imitation stage where they will use a short version of the story to help retell the story. They will use role play, small world figures and stick puppets to help fill in missing words as we read it.

They will then use the key events of the story to create a story map. Their key words will help them with their understanding of the book: dairy, bundle, trotted, snooped and shadows

The rhyme will focus on their maths knowledge of numbers. They will sing the rhyme '5  Fat Sausages.'

Through this rhyme they will point at or touch each sausage saying one number for each and then saying the total number of sausages.

Dear Parents,

In-person face-to-face parent consultations have been really well received this term.

We hope you valued the time to speak to your child's key worker in person. We aim to continue this service every term.

If you feel there is anything else we could do to improve this opportunity, please complete the Parent Questionnaire, in relation to the parent consultation, that will be sent out today.
