Head of School's Message

Dear Parents and Carers,

I am very pleased to share with you a fantastic free resource for families in Hertfordshire: the “Bitesize Parenting” online workshops, organised by Supporting Links, a highly regarded parenting and training consultancy.

These are free, one-hour, online sessions for all parents and carers of children of any age who live or go to school in Hertfordshire. Each workshop focuses on a common parenting challenge and offers down-to-earth ideas, insights and practical strategies you can try at home straight away.

Current and recent workshop topics include:

· “What is going on in my teenager’s head?” – understanding the teenage brain and how to support your teen.

· “Why does my child give up so easily?” – helping children to build resilience and keep going when things feel hard.

· “How do I get my child to listen to me?” – practical ways to improve cooperation and reduce battles at home.

· “How can my child learn to manage their feelings?” – ideas for supporting children to recognise and regulate big emotions.

· “How do I talk to my teen/preteen about…?” – guidance on having sensitive or tricky conversations with older children.

· “How do I get my child to eat better?” – support with mealtimes and encouraging healthier eating habits.

· “Why don’t my children get on with each other better?” – strategies for managing sibling relationships.

· “Why does my child behave like that?” and “Why can’t my child make good decisions?” – understanding behaviour and decision-making, and how we can coach children towards better choices.

The workshops are designed to be:

· Friendly and non-judgemental – a space where you are listened to and supported.

· Calming and confidence-building – helping you feel more in control at home.

· Interactive and engaging – you learn in a relaxed, enjoyable way.

· Practical – you leave with clear, manageable ideas to try with your family.

You can browse the full list of workshops and book your free place here:   Eventbrite Booking

We know that parenting can be both wonderful and challenging, and we are always keen to signpost support that we believe will make a real difference to family life. I hope many of you will find these sessions helpful.

Success Story of the Week!

Dear Parents,

Christmas Jumper Day

This week has been filled with joy, excitement and jolly good fun as we celebrated our Christmas Dinner and Christmas Jumper Day together in school.

Our wonderful chef, Loy, pulled out all the stops to create an excellent Christmas lunch for the children – traditional turkey with all the trimmings for everyone, and a tasty alternative for our non–meat eaters, of course!

The school was full of festive cheer, with Christmas music playing, colourful crackers being pulled and lots of smiling faces.

To finish, the children enjoyed a little cheeky chocolate pudding with ice cream – the perfect end to a very special meal.

What made the occasion truly magical was having everyone, from Conkers, Willow and Nursery together in one room, sharing the spirit and warmth of Christmas as a school community.

A huge thank you to all the staff, Sean (our site manager) for moving tables and chairs and especially to Chef Loy, for making this such a wonderful event for our children.
