Head of School's Message

Dear Parents and Carers,

Reception Places

Did you know that the application process for Hertfordshire Reception places opens soon, on the 15th of November?

The window for enrolling your child in Reception for this upcoming September will close on the 15th of January. Please be aware that late applications may not be considered, and you could risk not securing your chosen school for your child.

Most schools in the local area will be offering open days and tours for children starting Reception this year.  To stay informed, please regularly check the website of your chosen school or follow their social media pages if available. We highly recommend looking at the school before selecting. The process is never first come first served so take your time when deciding on the Primary School you would like your child to attend for the next 7 years.

To make an application, please visit the designated website https://www.hertfordshire.gov.uk/services/schools-and-education/school-admissions/primary-junior-and-middle-schools/primary-junior-and-middle-school-places.aspx

If you need assistance with the forms, choosing a school, or any general inquiries, please do not hesitate to get in touch with us.

Weather-Appropriate Footwear and Clothing Reminder

As the weather turns, it's that time of year when we remind you about appropriate footwear for school. Please consider shoes with a high level of water resistance. Even though the grass may appear dry, the astro surfaces can retain water, leading to damp shoes when children are outside.

Similarly, we recommend a waterproof coat so that children can continue to play outside comfortably.

As we've mentioned previously, unless your child can dress and undress themselves in their full waterproof suits, please avoid sending these into school. It creates a significant challenge for our staff to change every child into a full wetsuit and then remove it after just a few minutes.

Thank you for your understanding and support.

Book & Rhyme of the week

Nursery room will continue with their book 'Shark in the Park'  written by Nick Sharratt.

They will begin the innovation stage where they will choose whether to change the shark, the boy or the park. They will use the new character or setting to create a new story, adding this to their story map and retelling their new story.

The rhyme will focus on their phonic knowledge of body percussion. They will sing the rhyme 'If You're Happy and You Know It.'

Through this rhyme they will explore creating patterns of sounds that they can make with their bodies, such as clap, clap, stomp stomp, clap clap, stomp, stomp.

They will innovate the rhyme to explore other sounds that they can make with their bodies.

Their key words will help them with their understanding of phonics: body, sound and make.
