Dear Parents and Carers,
Safe, Supportive Footwear for Hot Weather Garden Play
As the weather becomes warmer, many of our children spend lots of time outdoors—exploring the garden, running, climbing, using resources, biking, and chasing their friends. We love to see them moving and learning through play!
In hot weather, children often choose footwear like sling-back shoes, sandals, or Crocs. However, these types of shoes do not always provide the secure support children need for active play. For nursery, we kindly ask that you consider choosing secure shoes with a firm heel/strap and good support for the length of the day.
By ensuring your child wears the right footwear, we can help reduce the risk of slips, trips, and falls, and avoid accidents that may occur when shoes don’t stay properly on the feet during rough-and-ready garden activities.
Thank you for your understanding and support in helping keep everyone safe while enjoying outdoor learning.

Book & Rhyme of the week
Nursery room will continue their book called, 'Clean Up' written by Nathan Bryon.
They will begin the second week of this book partaking in the immersion stage; they will create a small world scene of an island using a range of coloured materials and enhance it with loose parts, they will explore what recycling is and use junk modelling to create new ideas and they will use blocks and loose parts to build sanctuaries for their favourite toy animal.
Their key words will help them with their understanding of the book: island, plastic, rescued clean and sanctuary.

The rhyme will focus on their phonic knowledge of alliteration. They will sing the rhyme 'Goosey Goosey Gander' Through this rhyme, they will learn the Makaton sign for 'girl'.

Willow Room
Book & Rhyme of the week
Willow room will continue their book called 'WOW! Said the Owl' written by Tim Hopgood.
They will begin the second week of this book partaking in the immersion stage; they will develop their knowledge around what a star is and create their own star, they will pretend play being an owl flying around at night-time, they will develop their role-play skills by creating a camping scene outside pretending it is night-time and they will explore what it means to be curious.
Their key wordss will help them with their understanding of the book: owl, curious, stars and night.

They will begin the second week of this book partaking in the immersion stage; they will play the game, "What's the Time Mr Wolf" but practise their tip toe skills and make bird feeders and hang them outside to attract birds into our garden.
Their key words will help with their understanding of the book; plan, slowly, tip toe and bird /y.

Each Wednesday, the packs have been found outside main reception.
Last week was the final day to borrow this year.
Please make sure all packs at home are returned by the 8th July so we are able to restock them ready for next year.
Success Story of the Week!
Dear Parents,
This week's highlight has been seeing our Willow room children truly embracing their time in the Nursery School room. It has been a joy to watch them explore, play, and build their independence.
As we look toward September, we are dedicated to making the transition to the Nursery room as smooth and positive as possible.
We have been providing the children with regular opportunities to visit and familiarise themselves with their new surroundings.
It has been wonderful to see the children relish these sessions, showing such great confidence and enthusiasm. We are certain that this early exposure is giving them the perfect foundation for a seamless start in September.
Following this success, we are pleased to share that our younger children from the Coker room will also have the opportunity to visit the Nursery School room in the coming days.
We look forward to seeing them grow just as much as their friends in Willow have!
All absences must be reported to the school either by leaving an absence message or emailing admin@oeyc.herts.sch.uk, We politely ask that if you plan to take your child out during school time, you notify the Nursery office. For appointments, we ask where possible that these are not during the school day. If this is not avoidable, please kindly share the relevant information for this appointment in order for us to be able to authorise this. Regular attendance at Nursery is very important, as it helps children build the foundational knowledge and skills they will need as they move through school. Establishing good attendance habits now supports a smoother transition into primary school and helps ensure children develop positive routines that will benefit them throughout their educational journey. Thank you for your continued support in helping your child attend regularly and on time.
