Head of School's Message
Dear Parents and Carers,
Attendance and Punctuality
We are reaching out to highlight the significance of consistent attendance and punctuality for our children. While we understand that children are below statutory school age, establishing positive habits now is a vital gift to their future.
Why Attendance Matters
Good attendance sets the foundation for success, both academically and in your child’s personal life. As children strive to build friendships and develop their social stature, being present every day ensures they remain a fully integrated part of our community. Consistent attendance allows children to feel secure and comfortable in an environment they know, providing the stability they need to thrive.
The Value of Punctuality
Good timekeeping is a crucial aspect of attendance. Arriving on time ensures that your child is ready for school at the start of the day. A prompt arrival means your child can fully participate in the beginning-of-the-day routine, rather than arriving to find the day already in progress, which can be unsettling.
We kindly ask that you ensure your child arrives by 9:00 am when the gates open for a prompt start. We truly appreciate all your hard work in supporting your child’s routine and helping them make the most of every day.

Success Story of the Week!
Dear Parents,
We would like to extend a huge thank you to all our families for your incredible support during this past week’s unprecedented heatwave.
Your cooperation made a real difference. Ensuring the children arrived in light, comfortable clothes, with suncream applied in the morning and hats on, helped our staff team manage the warmer conditions far more effectively and safely.
We are also very grateful to those who used the early collection time slot. This support helped to ease strain on an already warmer-than-usual nursery, particularly during the hottest parts of the day.
As we move into the weekend, we hope you can enjoy the milder, slightly cooler temperatures with your children. Thank you once again for being such an important part of our community.

All absences must be reported to the school either by leaving an absence message or emailing admin@oeyc.herts.sch.uk, We politely ask that if you plan to take your child out during school time, you notify the Nursery office. For appointments, we ask where possible that these are not during the school day. If this is not avoidable, please kindly share the relevant information for this appointment in order for us to be able to authorise this. Regular attendance at Nursery is very important, as it helps children build the foundational knowledge and skills they will need as they move through school. Establishing good attendance habits now supports a smoother transition into primary school and helps ensure children develop positive routines that will benefit them throughout their educational journey. Thank you for your continued support in helping your child attend regularly and on time.
