Head of School's Message
Dear Parents and Carers,
We want to remind parents and carers how important it is for children to stay at nursery until the end of the day.
Remaining for the full session helps children feel settled with their key person, learn the nursery routines and take part in planned activities that support their independence, language and confidence.
When children are present for the whole session, every minute becomes a learning opportunity.
We understand appointments sometimes mean a child must be collected early. If this is the case, please let the office know in advance and bring proof of the appointment for your child (appointment card, text, email or letter). This helps us keep accurate records and ensures we only authorise early collections where necessary.
Please note: we cannot arrange collections from the office after 2:45pm. This allows staff to complete end‑of‑day routines, handovers and keep all children safe and calm.
Thank you for your understanding and support as we work with you to embed consistent routines that help every child feel safe, included and ready to learn.

Nursery Room
Book & Rhyme of the week
Nursery room will begin a new book called 'Owl Babies' written by Martin Waddell.
They will begin the first week of this book partaking in the immersion stage; they will go on an adventurous exploration to see what they find within the depths of a hollow tree, they will create their own owls and explore the sounds of owls.
Their key words will help them with their understanding of the book: trunk,
hunting, branch, brave, swooped and thought.

Book & Rhyme of the week
Willow room will begin a new book called 'Oh No George' written by Chris Haughton.
They will begin the first week of this book partaking in the immersion stage; they will role-play dogs, what they look like, what they eat and how to look after a dog.
They will explore the key word ruined to practise their reseting of the room.
Their key words will help them with their understanding of the book: good, love, thinks, and ruined.

Conker room will begin a new book called 'Noisy Farm' written by Rod Campbell.
They will begin the first week of this book partaking in the immersion stage; they will explore farm animals through small world play, they will explore the sounds of farm animals and create their own washing station to keep the farm animals clean.
Their key words will help with their understanding of the book; hear, farm, daybreak and barn.

Home Learning
Each Wednesday, the packs will be found outside main reception. There is a display to show you which group’s turn it is and a signing out folder for each pack. These are to borrow and return the following week and are comprised of Story Bags, Busy Finger and Maths packs.

Our Macmillan Coffee Morning was a real community event.
We hope that you have managed to secure yourself a small piece of cake today. Cake will still be available at 3pm today should you wish to treat your child to a little Friday treat.

All absences must be reported to the school either by leaving an absence message or emailing admin@oeyc.herts.sch.uk, We politely ask that if you plan to take your child out during school time, you notify the Nursery office. For appointments, we ask where possible that these are not during the school day. If this is not avoidable, please kindly share the relevant information for this appointment in order for us to be able to authorise this. Regular attendance at Nursery is very important, as it helps children build the foundational knowledge and skills they will need as they move through school. Establishing good attendance habits now supports a smoother transition into primary school and helps ensure children develop positive routines that will benefit them throughout their educational journey. Thank you for your continued support in helping your child attend regularly and on time.
