Head of School's Message

Dear Parents and Carers,

Farm Visit

This week, we were delighted to welcome The Farm! The day was a wonderful enriching experience for everyone—especially you the parents, as you arrived on site and saw the Ark Farm set-up ready for the children.

The children enjoyed a fantastic morning meeting the animals up close. They were introduced to Declan the Donkey, Matilda the Goat, Jackie the Rabbit, Inky Dink the Pig, Daisy the Duck, and Jamal the Dog.

The children loved exploring the animal area, feeding the animals, and carefully petting them with confidence and care. It was truly lovely to see their excitement and curiosity throughout the visit.

We’d also like to thank the two farmers who joined us. They were incredibly patient and took the time to explain everything to the children, answering their questions thoughtfully and encouraging their learning.

We hope your children came home talking about the visit and sharing what they enjoyed most. Perhaps the experience has sparked an interest in farm animals and will inspire some future learning and conversations at home.

Car Park Gates

The safety of your children is our primary concern at Oxhey. Please note that we will not open the gates to parents unless we are certain of your identity.

Please do not press/buzz the gate and then attempt to return to your vehicle, as we may not have identified you and therefore may not be able to open the gates. The gates remain locked throughout the day to keep the building secure. If you need access, please use the intercom system to confirm who you are.

Thank you for your continued support and involvement.

Success Story of the Week!

Dear Parents,

What a lovely week! As I walked around the nursery, it was wonderful to see all the children, in all three rooms, following familiar routines and expectations confidently—especially at reset time.

Reset is a special moment in our day. We expect every child to take part in putting toys and resources back in their original places. This helps children create an organised, ready-for-learning space for the next session. It’s also a great time to build independence, self-regulation, and responsibility.

I also notice during these times that children were encouraging others, thinking carefully about where things belong, and using the routines we practise together every day. Well done to everyone!

To support this at home, you could try asking your child:

     -   “What were you playing with last?”

     -   “Can you help me put it back where it belongs?”

     -   “Now what would you like to play with next?”

Explaining what you are doing as you go helps reinforce the pattern and gives children a clear structure. This supports your child in building  independence, confidence, and a calmer transition between activities.

Thank you for your continued support.

All absences must be reported to the school either by leaving an absence message or emailing admin@oeyc.herts.sch.uk, We politely ask that if you plan to take your child out during school time, you notify the Nursery office. For appointments, we ask where possible that these are not during the school day. If this is not avoidable, please kindly share the relevant information for this appointment in order for us to be able to authorise this. Regular attendance at Nursery is very important, as it helps children build the foundational knowledge and skills they will need as they move through school. Establishing good attendance habits now supports a smoother transition into primary school and helps ensure children develop positive routines that will benefit them throughout their educational journey. Thank you for your continued support in helping your child attend regularly and on time.
