Head of School's Message
Dear Parents and Carers,
As we look ahead to the next academic year, we wanted to share some exciting updates with you.
Our children are now familiar with the new rooms that they will be exploring next year, and they have had the opportunity to spend time in each space. Children from Conker and Willow have been able to visit the Nursery room, settle into the environment, and become more confident about what is ahead.
To support children even further during this important transition, we have made the decision to move staff into the new rooms for the next academic year. This means children will have familiar faces with them, helping routines feel reassuring and supporting them to thrive from the start.
Nursery

Iresha will join Nursery from Conker to support the children moving from that room.

Ella will also join the Nursery team to support the children moving from Willow.
Willow

Magie and Michelle will move to Willow to support children as they settle in, Supporting the existing team - Klara and Lauren.
Conker

The Conker team will comprise Candice, Huda, Sami and Moushmi. Moushmi is moving from Nursery, but has already spent time in Conker this year.

We are also very excited to welcome a new member of staff to the Nursery team in September.
We know that transitions can be an important time for children, and we are committed to making this period as smooth and positive as possible. We are very excited about the year ahead, and we believe these changes will help children feel secure, supported, and ready to grow and develop.

Book & Rhyme of the week
Nursery room will continue their book called 'Clean Up' written by Nathan Bryon.
They will begin the third week of this book partaking in the imitation stage; Children will orally retell the story to recall it by heart.
Alongside an adult during the session, they will perform actions that represent different parts of the story and match them to pictures that illustrate those actions. By the end of the week, they will have created a story map.
Their key words will help them with their understanding of the book: island, plastic, rescued clean and sanctuary.

Willow room will continue their book called 'WOW! Said the Owl' written by Tim Hopgood.
They will begin the third week of this book partaking in the imitation stage; Children will orally retell the story to recall it by heart.
Alongside an adult during the session, they will perform actions that represent different parts of the story and match them to pictures that illustrate those actions. By the end of the week, they will have created a story map.
Their key wordss will help them with their understanding of the
book: owl, curious, stars and night.

Success Story of the Week!
Dear Parents,
Success of the week
This week, children have faced the challenge of an extreme rise in temperatures, and I’m very pleased to share how well they have adapted.
Sun safety was a priority: All children had suncream applied and wore sun hats while spending time in the garden.
Cooling measures: We rotated children through our air-conditioned room as best as we could throughout the day.
Hydration and additional support: We ensured children stayed hydrated throughout the day and offered an early 1pm collection option for any families whose children may find the hotter weather more difficult to manage.
Most importantly, I want to acknowledge our staff team. In temperatures that were genuinely challenging, they have remained phenomenal—always with a positive mindset, calm approach, and dedication to the children. I could not be more proud of them.
With another hot week to look forward to, could I please ask you again to think carefully about suitable footwear and clothing for your children to help keep them safe and comfortable while at Nursery
All absences must be reported to the school either by leaving an absence message or emailing admin@oeyc.herts.sch.uk, We politely ask that if you plan to take your child out during school time, you notify the Nursery office. For appointments, we ask where possible that these are not during the school day. If this is not avoidable, please kindly share the relevant information for this appointment in order for us to be able to authorise this. Regular attendance at Nursery is very important, as it helps children build the foundational knowledge and skills they will need as they move through school. Establishing good attendance habits now supports a smoother transition into primary school and helps ensure children develop positive routines that will benefit them throughout their educational journey. Thank you for your continued support in helping your child attend regularly and on time.
