Head of School's Message
Dear Parents and Carers,
A quick note about coats, shoes and labelling as the weather changes
As the weather turns colder and wetter, a quick reminder about appropriate clothing helps us keep every child comfortable, safe and able to join in with all activities every day.
-
Please send your child with a warm, waterproof coat that has a hood. This keeps children dry during outdoor play which happens all year round whatever the weather.
-
For footwear, choose sturdy shoes that are suitable for running, climbing and messy play. Crocs and open-toe sandals are not suitable for nursery. If a child arrives wearing unsuitable footwear, your child’s key person will call home so we can make sure your child stays safe and fully able to take part in the day’s activities.
-
Please label all new coats, jumpers and shoes clearly with your child’s name. Named clothes come back to you quickly and mean less time spent looking for lost items.
-
If you’re finding it difficult to buy a coat or appropriate shoes, please help yourself to items from our preloved clothing rail — coats and shoes are available free of charge. We want every child to be warm, dry and ready to learn.
Thank you for your continued support and for helping us ensure every minute at Oxhey counts.
A reminder for those parents whose children will be starting Reception in September
Online applications open on 2nd November. Check your local primary schools to organise a school tour prior to the applications opening.

Good news — holiday childcare available locally
One of our Early Years Practitioners is running a small, Ofsted‑registered childminding service, from the comfort of her own home, whilst the school is closed for the half term holiday. She caters for children aged 0-8 years old.
‘Cuddle and Care’ is positioned in the local area, in close proximity to the school.
If you need childcare over the upcoming half term, you may wish to contact her directly.
Spaces are limited and will be allocated on a first‑come, first‑served basis. 'Cuddle and Care' Childminders – A happy place to learn and grow.

All absences must be reported to the school either by leaving an absence message or emailing admin@oeyc.herts.sch.uk, We politely ask that if you plan to take your child out during school time, you notify the Nursery office. For appointments, we ask where possible that these are not during the school day. If this is not avoidable, please kindly share the relevant information for this appointment in order for us to be able to authorise this. Regular attendance at Nursery is very important, as it helps children build the foundational knowledge and skills they will need as they move through school. Establishing good attendance habits now supports a smoother transition into primary school and helps ensure children develop positive routines that will benefit them throughout their educational journey. Thank you for your continued support in helping your child attend regularly and on time.
